This is George. He’ll be 14 years old in August. Isn’t he cute/fluffy/wonderful? We’ve had him since he was a kitten, and he’s very much a part of our family. He’s a very social cat, talks a lot, likes blueberry toaster waffles, tuna water and green olives. (That sounds a little like a personal ad, doesn’t it?)
Today he had to go to the vet for his annual check-up. I found out he only weighs 14.5 pounds. That’s light for him. In his younger days, he tipped the scales at 16.5 pounds. He’s healthy, for a “senior” cat. It still makes me nervous everytime I have to take him to the vet.
Not that he misbehaves or anything. He’s nothing but a big, gentle lump while we’re there. Oh, he’ll hiss, but it is more of a quiet “hissss, um, I think” sort of a hiss. He’ll growl, but it sounds more like he’s clearing his throat than anything. He doesn’t bite, scratch, run or hide, and he’ll bury his head in my shirt when given the chance.
I just get scared that they’ll find something wrong, and then I’ll have to face tough decisions. And I’ll cry. I’ll be a mess. Because darn-it all, I really love my cat. So fingers crossed that the blood-work turns out alright. I truly think he’s fine. A little arthritic maybe, but he never was very athletic to begin with.
So that’s what I did today. Duped my cat into getting into a carrier, took him on a car ride (which he hates), and let the vet torture check on him. But George still loves me.

What a beautiful boy you have there. It’s amazing to me how attached I am to my four-legged furry babies.

I hope he is fine and I understand those concerns well, as you know.
His fuzzy, black cousin says he sends his sympathies on the vet visit and wishes him good health and plenty of tuna water.

He is such a pretty cat!… Our cat has issues!… She’ll be 4 next month, but she needs some kitty prozac in a bad way! Or maybe she needs to see a kitty shrink… Or something.
